One of the things I love about this sweet and tangy Catalina salad dressing is that it uses things I already keep on hand. It also only takes about five minutes!
Add the ketchup, red wine vinegar, garlic powder, honey, paprika, and Worcestershire sauce to a mini food processor and pulse on low until combined.
½ cup ketchup, ½ cup red wine vinegar, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, ¼ cup honey, 1 teaspoon paprika, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
With the processor running on low, slowly drizzle in the oil and 2 tablespoons of water. Process until the dressing is smooth and emulsified, about 15-20 seconds. If you want the dressing thinner, add the remaining tablespoon of water and pulse until thoroughly blended.
¼ cup canola oil, 3 tablespoons water
Pour the dressing into an airtight jar or container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving. The dressing keeps for up to 3 weeks in the refrigerator. Shake well before each use.
Notes
Storage: Keep in an airtight jar or container in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. Shake well before each use as separation is normal.Make-Ahead: This dressing actually tastes better after 24 hours — the garlic powder and paprika hydrate and mellow into the other ingredients for a more cohesive flavour.Substitutions: Swap canola oil for avocado oil or light olive oil. Replace honey with maple syrup or agave for a vegan version. Apple cider vinegar works in place of red wine vinegar for a milder tang.Pro Tip: Pour the oil in slowly while the food processor is running rather than adding it all at once — this creates a more stable emulsion that will not separate as quickly.
